Dr. Sevim studied in Marburg, London, Geneva and Newark. She acted as an observer in international legislative processes at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. She was also able to work in the international field at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva. In the USA, she worked at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York. She was also able to work at the World Bank in Washington DC
